About the Taskforce
The Building the Education Revolution (BER) Implementation Taskforce was
chaired by former Chairman and Country Head of UBS Australia, Mr Brad Orgill.
Mr Orgill and his team investigated complaints and referred matters back to
State and Territory Education Authorities for action if required.
The Taskforce operated independently and reported to the Minister for
Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations.
Consistent with arrangements for the Economic Stimulus Plan, the Taskforce
worked in conjunction with the office of the Coordinator-General within the
Department of Infrastructure and Transport.

Mr Brad Orgill
Brad worked with UBS, a global financial services firm for 22 years, equally
spent in Asia and Australia. He retired as Chairman and Country Head of UBS
Australia, and member of the UBS Global Group Managing Board in 2008. He is a
past member of the Business Council of Australia (BCA), the Young Presidents’
Organisation (YPO) and Australian Business in the Community Network which
partnered CEOs with school principals in South Western Sydney schools. In
addition to his work on the BER Taskforce, he has recently been appointed by the
Prime Minister as one of two Commonwealth nominated board members to the
Queensland Reconstruction Authority. Brad has a Bachelor of Economics (Monash),
a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance, a Master of Arts (Asian Studies)
undertaken at the National University of Singapore/University of Sydney and is
scheduled to complete a Masters in Environmental Science & Environmental Law in
2011 (University of Sydney).

Mr David Chandler OAM
David has over 35 years experience in capital works procurement and in 1989
he was awarded an Order of Australia medal for services to the construction
industry. He has performed the roles of Chief Executive, Director, Advisor and
Chairman during various engagements in the public and private sector and is
currently the Principal of his private consulting practice, Resolution Services
Group.
Mr Alex Buchan
Alex has been a Senior Director at Altus Page Kirkland for 15 years and
brings 30 years experience of the property and construction industry to the
Taskforce. He has a successful track record in preparing complex construction
contracts and is an expert in the selection of procurement and delivery methods
for large construction projects.
Industry Advisory Panel
A team of leading construction, legal and educational experts was engaged to
advise the Taskforce to inform its investigations and act as a sounding board
for the approach of the Taskforce.
Alan Duncan, Director, Bay Partnership Pty Ltd
Bay Partnership is a leading quantity surveying and construction cost
consultancy providing services to private and public sector operators across the
projects.
Eric Goodwin, Non-Executive Director, Eureka Funds Management Limited
Eric has extensive experience in design, construction and project management,
general management and investment and fund management. Eric is an engineer by
profession.
Michael Heenan, Principal Architect, Allen Jack and Cottier (AJ+C)
AJ+C is a leading international architectural practice providing professional
services advice in the related disciplines of architecture, heritage
conservation and adaptive re-use, and urban, interior, and graphic design.
Doug Jones AM, Partner, Clayton Utz
Professor Doug Jones AM is one of Australia’s most pre-eminent construction
lawyers. He is a senior partner of a national law firm where he is head of
national practice groups for construction, major projects and international
arbitration. He has an intimate knowledge of construction contracts and major
projects in Australia and overseas, as well as extensive expertise on project
structuring and financing, contract drafting, dispute resolution and
cross-border arbitration.
